Ohio arts school celebrates an encore performance in reading achievement

Cleveland School for the Arts, a specialty arts school in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, faced a major reading challenge, with only 19 percent of students scoring proficient on the Ohio reading test before adopting Renaissance Accelerated Reader. The school needed a way to support students across multiple reading levels while still meeting state standards.

Renaissance implemented Accelerated Reader to build reading practice into the curriculum, support teachers with data, and engage parents and faculty. The results were dramatic: reading scores doubled after the first year and rose into the 90s by the third year, helping the school earn Reading Master School certification and recognition as an Ohio School of Promise.
