New Jersey district with diverse population gets students to read 220,000 books

Clifton Public Schools in Passaic County, New Jersey, serves a highly diverse student population with more than 65 home languages spoken across the district. Facing the challenge of building reading enthusiasm, individualizing instruction, and reliably assessing students across a wide range of skill levels, the district turned to Renaissance products including Accelerated Reader 360®, Star Reading®, English in a Flash®, and Data Integrator®.

Renaissance helped Clifton implement fast, reliable assessments, differentiate instruction, support ESL learners, and better predict performance on standardized tests like PARCC. The district reported highly accurate test prediction, improved remediation, faster integration of ELLs, consistent SGO achievement, and a culture of engaged readers—students read more than 220,000 books in a single year.
