A Renaissance Case Study
Oakes Elementary School in Oakes Public School District 41, North Dakota, was looking for ways to improve reading progress and reverse lagging reading scores, especially for students who had fewer reading opportunities at home. The school was already using Renaissance tools like Accelerated Reader and Star Assessments, and turned to Renaissance myON and myON News to support student agency, vocabulary growth, and listening comprehension.
With Renaissance myON, teachers gave students more choice in what, when, and where they read, along with audio support and access to books and news articles at school and home. The results included hundreds of hours of reading logged within the first few months, thousands of books completed, stronger engagement from reluctant readers, improved vocabulary and comprehension, and accelerated reading progress reflected in higher Renaissance Star Assessment ZPD indications.
