A Renaissance Case Study

Finding the greatness: From at-risk student to teacher of the year

Minnie Cline Elementary School in Savannah, Missouri, worked with Renaissance to address a common assessment challenge: teachers were relying on book reports to gauge reading skills, but some students completed reports without actually reading, making it hard to accurately identify skill levels and set individualized goals. Renaissance Accelerated Reader®, Renaissance Star Reading®, and Renaissance Star Math® were used to provide more reliable data for student performance.

With Renaissance, educators at Minnie Cline Elementary were able to quickly spot students who needed support, target reinforcement tasks, and personalize learning paths. The school saw stronger student ownership of learning, more voluntary reading, improved classroom management, and greater academic camaraderie; Darbie Valenti also used Star Math data to help assemble a math team that earned regional and state recognition.
