Blazing a new Oregon Trail: First graders read 7,000+ books

Warrenton Grade School in Warrenton, Oregon, needed a way to motivate a class of skeptical first graders to participate in reading activities and set achievement goals. Vendor Renaissance provided Renaissance Accelerated Reader® and Renaissance Star Reading® to support personalized reading practice and assessment.

Using Renaissance Accelerated Reader, the school gave students access to high-interest, leveled books and short quizzes that built confidence and engagement. The results were strong: students read more than 7,000 books and nearly five million words, every first grader met or exceeded individual reading goals, and the class also saw improvements in math scores, behavior, and overall enthusiasm for reading.
