Atlanta students slam-dunk rivals with 3,000+ hours of reading

Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy in Atlanta Public Schools needed to raise Lexile scores and engage students in reading despite limited resources, outdated library materials, and short attention spans. The academy turned to Renaissance, using myON Reader along with Renaissance assessment and practice tools to support daily reading and help students build fluency and comprehension.

Renaissance’s myON, paired with Star Reading and Accelerated Reader, gave students access to thousands of digital books matched to their interests and reading levels. The results were strong: in eight weeks, students read more than 17,000 books and spent 3,000+ hours reading, with one student reading over 500 books. Teachers also reported improved engagement, growth in Lexile scores, and higher Accelerated Reader points, showing measurable gains in reading performance.
