Alabama SAIL program yields learning gains of 4 months

The customer, Summer Adventures in Learning (SAIL), is a collaborative partnership in Alabama focused on preventing summer learning loss. Their challenge was to find an assessment solution that could accurately measure student progress and enable effective intervention within the short duration of their summer programs, which were only four to six weeks long. They partnered with the vendor, Renaissance, to implement its Star Assessments.

Renaissance provided its Star Reading and Star Math assessments, which delivered accurate results quickly and allowed for the creation of individualized learning plans. As a result, SAIL programs achieved significant academic gains, with high-performing students making a median gain of four months in math and three and a half months in reading. The Renaissance solution enabled SAIL to scale its impact, growing to serve 2,600 students with a measurable, cost-effective model.
