81,000-student Florida district boosts achievement and state ranking with spot-on K–12 assessments

Lee County School District in Fort Myers, Florida, one of Florida’s largest districts, needed to eliminate over-testing, reduce staff workload, improve student achievement, and more reliably predict performance on state assessments. The district also wanted a single K–12 assessment platform that could work across schools and grade levels, so it turned to Renaissance and its Star 360 assessment solution.

Renaissance implemented Star 360 across all 98 traditional schools for reading and math progress monitoring, with assessments that take about 20–25 minutes and align to state and college-readiness tests. The result was a dramatically reduced testing footprint, more timely and consistent data for educators, and better instructional decisions; the district reported that nearly 30% of schools improved their performance grades and the district gained five points in state ranking, while Star 360 accurately predicted proficiency for more than 75,000 students.
