A Remix Case Study
The City of Providence partnered with Remix and its shared mobility platform to address shortcomings in its scooter program. Lacking internal IT capacity to process Mobility Data Specification (MDS) feeds, Providence was juggling disparate data sources, could not reliably spot-check provider compliance, and needed a single, accurate source of scooter data to manage policy and enforcement effectively.
Remix ingested provider MDS feeds, delivered dashboards and tools for bi‑monthly quantitative evaluations, and enabled Providence to track compliance (for example, trips after dark) and equitable fleet distribution. The platform reduced back‑and‑forth communications, freed staff to focus on strategic issues, and increased actionable insights. Measurable impacts include visibility into fleet caps—overall period average 291 of a 300 cap (peak daily average 362; 3 days 4h over cap) and downtown average 147 of a 150 cap (peak 294; 6 days 1h 23m over cap)—allowing the City of Providence to better regulate providers using Remix.
