Mesa County's Regional Transportation Organization - Customer Case Study

Mesa County's Regional Transportation Organization (RTPO), which plans routes and schedules for Grand Valley Transit across a very large service area, needed to improve and expand service without increasing costs. Planners like Biz Collins had relied on driving routes, GIS files and Google estimates—an inaccurate, time-consuming outreach process that made it hard for the public and non‑GIS staff to review proposals. To address this, RTPO adopted Remix’s web-based mapping platform for visualizing and sharing proposed routes.

Using Remix, RTPO published interactive maps on its website, collected many direct comments from riders, and gave dispatchers and operators access to the same tools as planners. Remix helped RTPO implement route modifications that reduced duplication and swapped inbound/outbound paths, cut planner labor during the revision process, and made public involvement and dry‑run testing faster and more user-friendly—resulting in clearer feedback and more efficient service planning.
