King County Metro Builds Consensus in Record Time During Long-Range Plan

King County Metro, the transit agency serving the greater Seattle area, faced the challenge of securing multi‑jurisdictional sign‑off on METRO CONNECTS, a 25‑year long‑range plan that adds roughly 2.5 million new service hours by 2040 and nearly 600 miles of frequent service. Gaining agreement from 39 municipalities traditionally could take up to two years, so Metro brought in Remix — using its interactive mapping and Jane isochrone tools — to make mobility impacts clear to stakeholders.

Remix’s interactive maps and isochrones enabled real‑time, visual public presentations and iterative edits during meetings, turning static packets into understandable, fluid proposals; as a result King County Metro built consensus with 39 municipalities in 9 months (instead of up to two years), cut feedback turnaround per iteration from about 70 hours to 36 hours, and avoided hiring 2–3 extra staff. By using Remix, Metro accelerated review, improved the quality of stakeholder input, and positioned METRO CONNECTS for timely approval and implementation.
