Case Study: Victor Valley Transit Authority achieves faster, more reliable service and increased ridership with Remix

A Remix Case Study

Preview of the Victor Valley Transit Authority Case Study

Implementing a New Express Route in Victor Valley

Victor Valley Transit Authority faced chronic on-time performance problems on its Route 45—heavy passenger loads and traffic kept buses from reaching Victor Valley College on schedule. Planner Craig Barnes used Remix’s routing and planning platform to test and design a direct express line (the 45X) between the Victorville Transit Hub and the college after manual trials proved inconclusive.

Using Remix, VVTA put the 45X into service in about eight months; it now averages 1,800 riders a month (recent two-month average), runs three one-way trips each morning and afternoon, and cuts travel time from roughly 30 minutes (and often late) to 18–20 minutes while leaving only three minutes later. Remix also enabled quick reroutes when stops changed and produced operations-analysis sketches with revenue-mile and deadhead-mile/time estimates that saved hours of manual test driving.
