Cutting Costs and Increasing Frequency in Greensboro

Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) needed to redesign Route 9, a nearly four-hour roundtrip between Lexington and Greensboro, to cut costs, shorten travel time, and better connect riders in Davidson County and High Point. Using Remix, PART planners accessed LEHD jobs data and overlaid their own cost inputs to evaluate route alternatives and identify opportunities to serve more-desired destinations while reducing unnecessary mileage.

With Remix’s planning tools and LEHD-based jobs layer, PART rerouted Route 9 to bring service into downtown High Point, plugged in revenue-hour costs, and quantified savings that made higher frequency possible. The agency was able to add two morning roundtrips, two evening roundtrips and one midday trip while operating with one bus and two drivers, shorten passenger travel times, and receive positive rider feedback; PART is now applying Remix to evaluate Route 10 as well.
