Atrium Health partnered with Relogix to better understand and improve exam room and office space utilization. With providers requesting more room and no desire to expand its real estate footprint before proving it was operating efficiently, Atrium Health needed a consistent way to collect data and support space-planning and scheduling decisions.

Relogix deployed heat and motion sensors and its Workspace Analytics Platform in exam rooms, integrating occupancy data with scheduling, patient check-in, and waiting-area information. The analysis showed exam rooms were used less than 40% of the time, many were empty after 3 p.m., and shared rooms had the lowest utilization. As a result, Atrium Health improved scheduling and space management without increasing overhead costs, reduced demand for future space, and expanded Relogix sensors to more floors, offices, and meeting rooms for ongoing benchmarking and performance improvement.
