Booths is a family‑owned regional supermarket in Northwest England that positions itself as a “destination” retailer with deli, regional and seasonal ranges, but operates in a market dominated by much larger chains. Facing promotion‑driven and seasonal demand, a wide SKU range (13–14k) including many slow‑moving lines, tight delivery windows and a small planning team, Booths needed to cut spoilage, improve promotion and new‑product planning, factor in weather and events, and optimise DC‑to‑store allocations with a fast, low‑risk solution.
Booths partnered with RELEX for its flexible, results‑based SaaS platform that integrated with existing systems and was quick to deploy across 29 stores and 13,000+ SKUs. Starting with chilled cabinets, the system improved forecasting and automated replenishment, enabling event‑specific profiles and better handling of early supplier cutoffs. The rollout cut chilled spoilage by over 20% and total spoilage by around 10%, raised shelf availability (regularly placing Booths in the UK’s top three for availability), and made planning far more efficient for the small team.
