Suomalainen Kirjakauppa is Finland’s leading bookshop chain (62 stores + online, 450 employees) that needed to free store staff to focus on customer service while improving shelf availability and handling strong regional, seasonal and product-life-cycle variation. Its legacy reorder-point process forced manual ordering during peaks, limited visibility into local demand and produced suboptimal inventory turnover and stock availability.

After a three-store pilot Suomalainen implemented RELEX’s day-by-day, store- and product-specific forecasting and centralized automated replenishment, rolling out across all stores ahead of schedule. The solution drove a 16% increase in inventory turnover, a 5–10% reduction in inventory value, a 7 percentage-point rise in shelf availability (91%→98%), cut out-of-stocks in office supplies from 9% to 2%, enabled 98% automated ordering and let a single coordinator manage replenishment — freeing staff to boost customer service and margins.
