Stockmann Better Replenishment Management

Stockmann, Finland’s leading department-store chain with seven major stores and up to 16,000 grocery items under the Stockmann Herkku brand, faced a replenishment challenge: manual re-ordering could not deliver the freshness, availability and tight delivery schedules expected by a demanding clientele. The retailer tasked Tuko Logistics, with RELEX support, to replace manual processes, dramatically increase automated purchase orders and cut waste while improving supply reliability and reducing inventory.

By implementing RELEX (project launched 2011, results in 2012) Stockmann reached 80–90% automated ordering, cut average waste by about 40% and maintained availability at roughly 99%, while achieving a payback within months. Forecasts for seasonal and holiday sales improved, delivery routes were optimized for fuller loads, working hours spent on ordering fell, and Tuko operates and maintains the system so Stockmann avoided extra IT overhead.
