Rossmann Flexibility and Adaptability Key to Successful Supply Chain Management

Dirk Rossmann GmbH is Germany’s second-largest drugstore chain (over 4,000 stores across eight countries) that faced fragmented, outdated supply‑chain software which struggled to handle promotions, seasonal peaks and multi‑echelon replenishment. The disjointed systems hurt decision‑making and availability, so Rossmann sought a single, highly flexible planning platform to drive higher availability, lower inventory and better promotional management without heavy coding.

Rossmann selected RELEX and rolled it out across German stores and DCs in 2017, centralizing forecasting, replenishment and promotion planning with configurable (not coded) controls. The results included a 30% cut in promotional inventory, a 10% reduction in promotional out‑of‑stocks, an 85% drop in stores with availability issues within three months, 17% and 25% reductions in stock‑outs during the first December and Easter seasons after go‑live, and near‑full automation of store (100%) and DC (95%) ordering; the system’s flexibility also enabled rapid COVID‑era adjustments implemented in days.
