A RELEX Solutions Case Study
Sinebrychoff, the oldest brewery in the Nordic region and part of the Carlsberg Group, is Finland’s market leader in brewery and soft drink products (about 50% market share) and produces roughly 400 million litres annually. As its product range grew, forecasting at product level became inadequate: customer- and chain-specific campaigns, strong seasonality and ripple effects between chains made demand hard to predict, and forecasting errors had major production and delivery implications. The company needed to move to product-/customer‑chain‑specific forecasts and automate service-product forecasting while improving monitoring.
Sinebrychoff implemented RELEX Forecaster, chosen for its versatile models, automation and user-friendly interface, and went live in three months. The new process delivered product-/customer‑chain‑specific forecasts (about ten times more forecasts) with the same workload, enabled near‑real‑time monitoring, and made handling promotions, new launches and disruptions quick (few clicks). The rollout stayed on schedule, and the company is now working to further automate campaign forecasting so human input focuses on exceptions.
