Plantasjen, Scandinavia’s largest garden-centre chain with 110 stores and about €433M in annual sales, faced operational strain after rapid expansion: store teams manually replenished year‑round items, centrally allocated seasonal stock too early, and struggled with highly seasonal demand (85% of profits in April–June), large assortments (~30,000 SKUs) and regional climate differences that made accurate forecasting difficult.
Working with RELEX, Plantasjen centralized replenishment, adopted a push–pull–push approach for seasonal items, consolidated to one central warehouse and implemented fast daily forecasting and order proposals. The changes delivered measurable gains: on‑shelf availability +12%, sales +8%, in‑store inventory down 32% over three years, central-warehouse service levels up ~10% in many categories, daily planning for 1.7M item‑store combinations in under an hour, and store time savings equivalent to about 10 FTEs.
