Case Study: Minimani reduces food waste and boosts availability with RELEX Solutions

A RELEX Solutions Case Study

Preview of the Minimani Case Study

Minimani Hypermarket Chain Cuts Food Waste Through Supply Chain Optimization

Minimani is a Finnish hypermarket chain of five stores (4 large hypermarkets and one smaller outlet) with over €100M in sales and a 100,000-item assortment. Operating without a central warehouse and relying on store-level, manual ordering created heavy workload, high food waste (notably meat) and stock availability challenges, especially given weekly campaign-driven promotions.

Minimani implemented RELEX starting in 2017, piloting at Seinäjoki and integrating with its NAV ERP to centralize replenishment, optimize batch sizes and enable direct-to-shelf deliveries. The change freed several working hours per day, shifted ordering to a central team, improved availability of key lines by 4% (boosting sales), significantly cut waste, and made chain-wide campaign management faster and more systematic.
