A RELEX Solutions Case Study
Booths is a family‑owned regional supermarket chain in England’s North West that positions itself as a “destination retailer” with a wide assortment (13–14k SKUs) and a reputation for quality, competing against much larger national chains. Its challenges included managing a remarkably broad product range with many slow‑moving lines, longer lead times and supplier constraints, handling promotions and new product introductions, reducing perishables spoilage, and improving demand forecasting and store allocations.
Booths partnered with RELEX for its expertise, attitude and flexibility; the solution was integrated with Booths’ in‑house systems and rolled out across 29 stores (13,000+ SKUs) within four months, initially targeting chilled cabinet items. The result: overall spoilage fell ~10% (chilled spoilage over 20% reduction), shelf availability rose about 10% across the assortment, fresh ordering became largely automated for early‑cutoff suppliers and Booths expanded its “picked‑today” offering — cutting waste without harming availability.
