Ametller Origen Group Improving Availability and Sustainability Through Centralized Replenishment

Ametller Origen Group is a Catalonia-based grocery retailer (111 stores, three DCs) founded in 2001, vertically integrated with its own farmlands and central kitchen to deliver high-quality fresh and packaged foods. Rapid ~19% year-over-year growth and a COVID-driven surge in online sales exposed weaknesses in decentralized, manual replenishment and inventory planning, creating risks to on-shelf availability, inventory control and fresh-product spoilage.

After selecting RELEX for AI-driven demand forecasting and replenishment, Ametller Origen piloted the solution in August 2019 and quickly scaled it across all stores and DCs. Centralized, automated replenishment, better master data and event-management forecasting delivered measurable gains: +12 percentage points availability for non-perishables (+4 pp for refrigerated), inventory reductions of 5 pp (non-perishables) and 24 pp (refrigerated), a 14% rise in non-perishable sales, and significant reductions in fresh spoilage — improving both operations and sustainability.
