A Relativity Case Study
icourts, an e-discovery provider working on behalf of an insurer in an Australian liquidation, faced a court‑mandated one‑month deadline to review a 1.4 million‑document data dump with a small three‑person team and a cost‑sensitive client. To tackle the volume and uncertainty about what to look for, icourts used Relativity’s analytics tools — including search terms, clustering, near‑duplicate identification — and Relativity’s active learning to focus the review.
Relativity’s combined analytics and active learning workflow culled the set from 1.4 million documents to just 1,500 priority documents, allowing reviewers to code only those documents and deliver findings in 11 days. The approach saved an estimated 28,000 hours of review time and about $5 million in costs, enabling icourts to meet the deadline, reduce associate time spent on review, and provide timely strategic guidance to the law firm and client.
