elaw International, a niche consulting, litigation support, and legal technology service provider, faced a high-stakes compliance challenge: three lawyers had eight days to review 80,000 documents for a client served with a regulatory Notice to Produce, with potential fines and imprisonment for directors if they failed to comply. To meet the deadline, elaw International used Relativity’s Assisted Review capability.

Using Relativity Assisted Review, elaw International trained the system with pre-coded examples, ran five quality-control rounds (using Relativity’s overturn reports to identify and correct tagging issues), and sampled uncategorized records. The process reduced the set to 3,367 relevant documents, required 181 billable hours versus an estimated 1,203 for linear review, saved about 861 hours and approximately $258,000, and enabled on-time production.
