Case Study: Witteveen+Bos achieves centralized, error‑free project information and BIM/GIS integration with Relatics

A Relatics Case Study

Preview of the Witteveen+Bos Case Study

Tailor-made solutions for project information needs with BIM and GIS integration

Witteveen+Bos, a Dutch engineering firm, uses Relatics to support systems engineering but faced challenges when multiple project applications needed the same information: duplicated or missing data, unclear object context and locations, inconsistent metadata (e.g., for AutoCAD drawings), and loss of rich contract information when shared as flat PDFs. Maarten Visser emphasizes that Relatics alone didn’t cover large integrated projects, so a single, suitable system and clear links between sources were required.

The firm integrated GIS and BIM into Relatics, added a GIS viewer for transparent object locations, built a web service to automatically synchronize metadata, and created an external website interface to share interactive contract documents with photos and 3D links. The result: better control of complex processes, clearer interfaces and locations, fewer errors and manual steps, more efficient design work, and added client value with minimal extra effort.
