A Relatics Case Study
Combinatie Herepoort — a consortium of two German and four northern Dutch firms — is delivering the renewal and expansion of 12 km of the southern ring road of Groningen, including making the Julianaplein signal-free and building a recessed road with a park above. The project required managing large volumes of research, documents and objects, and the challenge was to present this complex information clearly by integrating Relatics, a document management system and GIS.
The team solved this by combining Relatics, the DMS and GIS into a single screen and treating the map as an extra “building block” alongside trees and tables. The integrated view gave project staff a literal and figurative better picture of the works; lessons learned showed that reliability and performance drive user confidence, while simplicity and comprehensibility ensure adoption in large, fast-moving projects.
