Rewriting ABC's Online Store On Budget

ABC Shop engaged reinteractive to rebuild its online store on a tight budget and an even tighter timeline, with the goal of launching a new site by the end of October 2011. The existing platform was a legacy Microsoft web application integrated with stock fulfilment, payment gateways, and voucher systems, and it also needed a major data migration and a new product classification structure. reinteractive provided development, CodeCare, and RoR/AWS expertise to help deliver the rewrite.

reinteractive implemented a Ruby on Rails solution with a carefully tested migration script, a customised agile delivery process, and support for building and training ABC Shop’s internal team. The cutover was completed on schedule during a 12-hour deployment window with no failures, and the new store immediately began generating orders at a higher rate than before, beating previous traffic and sales levels by a significant margin. Ongoing OpsCare managed hosting and support from reinteractive also helped ABC Shop continue releasing new features quickly with minimal downtime.
