UBS Chose Regula to Innovate and Secure Document Verification for Opening Bank Accounts

UBS, the largest bank in Switzerland, partnered with Regula to innovate and secure its customer onboarding process. The bank's challenge was to move away from a cumbersome, real-time video interview system for identity verification to a fully automated, digital process available 24/7.

Regula implemented its Document Reader SDK and Face SDK to create a fully automated solution. The process involves scanning a biometric passport, performing server-side authentication of its RFID chip, and comparing the document photo to a user selfie. This allows UBS customers to open a new bank account in under five minutes. The solution also enables the bank to generate qualified electronic signatures for its customers.
