Regula Helps South Korean Government Improve Forensic Research Throughout Asia

LOGICHAIN, a South Korean contractor specializing in digital forensics for government security projects, was chosen to provide forensic equipment for an Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiative to improve public security in emerging Asian countries. The initial challenge for the project, executed by KOICA, was to uplift the forensic research capabilities of laboratories in Mongolia for document examination and crime investigation. To meet this need, LOGICHAIN turned to its partner, Regula.

The solution implemented was the Regula 7701M, a two-coordinate magneto-optical scanner designed for the non-destructive examination of documents with magnetic security features. This tool from Regula allows forensic experts to visualize magnetic patterns, detect magnetic properties of inks, and examine damaged documents, significantly improving the accuracy of authenticity verification. As a result, the National Institute of Forensic Science in Mongolia now relies on the Regula device as its main method for examining banknotes, moving from a human-centered process to a scientific one and paving the way for the ODA project to expand to other countries.
