Kazakhstan Makes a Step Towards Smart Change in the Border Security Sector

The Border Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan faced a challenge securing its 101 international checkpoints, as a lack of forensic equipment and experienced document experts at minor posts created a security imbalance. To address this, they partnered with vendor Regula to implement a remote document verification system built around the Regula 8880 photospectral scanner.

The Regula solution enables border officers to capture high-resolution images of questionable travel documents and send them remotely to a centralized team of forensic experts for in-depth analysis. This system streamlined the verification process, improved security, and allowed for more efficient allocation of expert resources. Regula implemented this system at five major border checkpoints, including key international airports, enhancing the overall security of the nation's borders.
