A Regroup Mass Notification Case Study
The Camp Fire, Butte County was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history, erupting on Nov. 8, 2018, killing at least 85 people, consuming 240 square miles and causing an estimated $16.5 billion in damage. As tens of thousands of residents faced rapidly changing evacuation orders, officials and institutions in Butte County needed a reliable way to push urgent instructions and coordinate response — a need that was met by Regroup Mass Notification’s emergency notification platform.
Regroup Mass Notification sent multi-channel alerts that allowed Butte College to shut down and evacuate students (freeing the campus to serve firefighters and first responders) and enabled Enloe Medical Center to call in additional staff immediately; across the region an estimated 52,000 people were evacuated. Regroup’s high-throughput capabilities (voice, SMS, email and push at scale), two-way communications and real-time analytics accelerated response, reduced confusion during the Camp Fire, and supported lifesaving operational coordination during the crisis.
