University of North Texas increases e-TASFA applications 3x with Regent Education

The University of North Texas (UNT) faced a challenge in providing equitable access to financial aid for its undocumented student population. While other students could use the streamlined online FAFSA, undocumented students were required to complete a cumbersome eight-page paper application, creating a significant barrier. To address this disparity and improve the student experience, UNT partnered with vendor Regent Education to implement its Regent Access solution.

Regent Access transformed the paper-based process into a user-friendly online application that mirrors the FAFSA experience. The solution automated calculations and data validation, which dramatically increased departmental efficiency. For the customer, the measurable impact was substantial; as of the 2020-2021 aid year, UNT was processing three times the number of applications compared to the first year of implementation, significantly increasing the aid awarded to undocumented students.
