Cortland Improves Retention With New Performance Development Program

Cortland, a multifamily real estate company with 1,800 associates, wanted to move away from annual performance reviews and build a continuous feedback culture. The company faced the challenge of managing performance across a highly decentralized workforce while also reducing the time managers and associates spent preparing for performance conversations, and it turned to Reflektive for a performance management solution.

Reflektive helped Cortland roll out a new performance development program with training, constructive feedback frameworks, and an easy-to-use check-in process. The results were strong: managers described the experience as “easy, fluid and painless,” associates began asking for more feedback, and more than 60% of employees on performance improvement plans are no longer on them. Cortland now runs three to six check-ins per year plus an annual 360 review, using Reflektive to support ongoing coaching and recognition.
