Castos, a podcast hosting platform, wanted a better way to understand what customers needed and to improve onboarding for its growing number of trials. The team used Refiner’s in-app surveys to gather customer feedback directly inside the product, tie responses to individual users, and replace assumptions with real data.
With Refiner, Castos first surveyed new users about how they wanted to monetize podcasts, which revealed preferences different from what the team had expected and helped shape the product roadmap. They also redesigned onboarding into smaller steps and added a survey for users who skipped the wizard so they could measure why they exited and correlate that behavior with trial-to-paid conversion, giving Refiner a clear role in improving activation and ongoing product decisions.
