A Box of Stories, a UK subscription box service, was heavily reliant on paid Facebook ads to acquire customers and faced relatively high customer acquisition costs, despite strong customer loyalty and word-of-mouth interest. To reach new audiences more organically, the company turned to ReferralCandy and launched a referral program in early 2020.
ReferralCandy implemented a coupon-code referral program that gave customers £4 off for referring friends and £4 off their next purchase. The results were strong: referrals contributed to 3.38% of all purchases, nearly 5,000 customers joined the program in just four months, and the campaign generated 3000% ROI.
