Catbird, a virtualization security leader based in Scotts Valley, CA, running about 5,000 VMs across hundreds of hypervisors, was experiencing severe performance degradation and high latency from its NFS-based storage when deploying nested VMware and OpenStack private clouds. Scaling traditional disk storage was not cost-effective, so Catbird selected Reduxio and its HX550 enterprise flash storage to meet its performance and cost needs.

Reduxio deployed two HX550 systems along with Reduxio Storage Manager and the Reduxio Cinder plugin to host Catbird’s nested VMware and OpenStack environments. The Reduxio solution reduced recovery time from 1 minute to 1 second (60x), sped VM provisioning 10x, cut used space by 83% through in-line dedupe and compression, and delivered consistent ~0.5 ms latency, significantly accelerating Catbird’s development and test cycles.
