Equal Experts, a global IT services company, needed a streaming data architecture for a FinTech client’s real-time market data alerting system with extremely strict latency requirements of tens of milliseconds. The team evaluated a Kafka-based stack and a managed Kafka service, but neither could meet the latency target cost-effectively, so they looked for a Kafka-compatible alternative. Redpanda Data helped Equal Experts build a solution that met the client’s real-time alerting needs, reducing end-to-end latency from as high as 30 ms to just 5 ms. Using Redpanda Self-Managed on AWS EC2 with ARM-based Graviton instances also delivered a 20% performance boost and lower cost compared with standard EC2 instances. Redpanda Data made the migration from Kafka straightforward, enabling a quick win for Equal Experts and its client.
