The state government faced challenges in increasing the efficiency of its Meter Billing & Collection System (MBCS) and implementing a Meter Data Management System (MDMS). They required a single database for all their meters and integration with their billing system. To address this, they partnered with vendor Redington to develop an IoT solution.

Redington implemented a Smart Meter solution that connected to the cloud to enable real-time data streaming. They deployed approximately 150,000 smart meters across the city. This allowed the state government to receive real-time data sync from all city meter readings, resulting in accurate energy consumption data and billing.
