Case Study: Medrona achieves better Windows workload performance with Redington’s AWS EC2 migration

A Redington Case Study

Preview of the Medrona Case Study

Medrona modernizes Windows workloads with Redington across 50–300 users

Medrona, a healthcare service provider, faced performance and throughput issues with its outdated on-premises infrastructure, which used a single-tier architecture running Windows Server and SQL Server on the same machine. They engaged Redington to migrate these Windows workloads to AWS. The challenge included consolidating user domains and establishing new site-to-site VPN connections.

Redington implemented a greenfield deployment on AWS, utilizing Amazon EC2 instances for Windows Server and SQL Server, and migrated the database using AWS Database Migration Service. The solution established a secure three-tier architecture with a cloud-based Active Directory domain controller. Redington's migration eliminated the previous performance bottlenecks, resulting in improved application performance and easier integration with analytics tools. The customer also saved on licensing costs and total cost of ownership.
