Case Study: Samaritan Ministries reduces data risk and improves compliance with Redgate SQL Data Catalog

A Redgate Case Study

Preview of the Samaritan Ministries Case Study

Samaritan Ministries International Driving organizational change and reducing risk through data classification

Samaritan Ministries, a healthcare sharing organization, needed to protect its data and achieve compliance with regulations like GDPR and CCPA. The challenge was to understand and classify sensitive information across its 25 servers and 75 databases to control access and implement appropriate security measures, particularly for PII and PCI data.

Redgate implemented its SQL Data Catalog, a tool that provided a single view of the entire data estate for classification. The solution enabled Samaritan Ministries to classify all its data, which informed new security policies and led to the implementation of encryption and data masking with Redgate's Data Masker. This process reduced risk and drove a cultural change within the organization, notably by allowing developers to use non-production environments with SQL Clone.
