Case Study: a global online events company modernizes SQL Server and cuts cloud costs with Redgate

A Redgate Case Study

Preview of the Global Online Events Company Case Study

How a Global Events Provider Modernized SQL Server Workloads with Redgate, MorphiT and AWS

A global online events company was facing the challenge of an expiring data center contract that would lead to dramatically increased costs. Their legacy SQL Server 2014 databases contained sensitive data, suffered from poor performance, and lacked modern deployment processes, making a direct migration to the cloud prohibitively expensive. They partnered with Redgate, using its Monitor and Flyway Enterprise products, to tackle these issues and facilitate a move to AWS.

Using Redgate Monitor, the company identified and refined costly, poorly performing queries, which allowed them to rightsize their cloud environment and drastically reduce the required infrastructure. The solution from Redgate, combined with Flyway Enterprise, also introduced automated DevOps practices. The results were significant: a 75% reduction in core count, an 85% cut in cost per user, a 70% improvement in query performance, and the successful avoidance of a costly data center renewal.
