Ahlsell – Migrating and Modernizing one of the Biggest E-commerce Platforms in the Nordics

Ahlsell, a major Nordic retailer, embarked on an ambitious IT modernization journey to take control of its legacy e-commerce platform from third parties and prepare for an in-house development team. The challenge for vendor Redeploy was to migrate and modernize the deeply entrenched, monolithic core of one of the largest e-commerce systems in the Nordics with minimal downtime.

Redeploy implemented a solution that migrated the platform to Microsoft Azure, leveraging PaaS solutions, Azure App Service, and Azure SQL Databases for a scalable foundation. The results included a fully Azure-powered e-commerce system that improved operational agility and laid the groundwork for a composable architecture. This successful modernization also enhanced Ahlsell's recruitment strategies and internal IT expertise.
