University of Lincoln - Customer Case Study

The University of Lincoln, a fast-growing UK higher education institution, needed a more reliable backup solution as its tape-based system was failing to meet recovery targets, taking too long to run, and creating security, scalability, and administration issues. The university turned to Redcentric for a managed online backup service and related support to replace the aging approach and better protect its mission-critical systems.

Redcentric implemented managed online backup, archived and migrated around 6TB of data to cheaper storage, and added cold stand-by servers in its Harrogate data centre for disaster recovery. As a result, backup windows were cut by more than 50% to about 10 hours, file restores became much faster, RPO and RTO targets were met, and the university gained greater reliability, security, and control while freeing up about 50% of one team member’s time for higher-value work.
