A Redcentric Case Study
King’s College Hospital, one of London’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals, needed to refresh ageing wireless infrastructure across multiple sites while keeping connectivity secure, reliable, and uninterrupted for clinicians, staff, visitors, and partners. Redcentric, using managed network and professional services, was tasked with replacing end-of-life equipment and supporting mobile clinical applications, visitor Wi‑Fi, and corporate systems across the Trust’s complex estate.
Redcentric delivered a carefully planned wireless network renewal, running old and new networks side by side, pre-configuring controllers, and staggering the migration of around 1,500 to 2,000 access points to avoid service disruption. The result was a faster, more stable and resilient network with improved coverage, fewer call dropouts, simpler centralized management, and reduced server hardware from 12 boxes to 4, helping King’s College Hospital improve clinician communication, bedside care, and patient outcomes.
