Case Study: Institute for Advanced Study achieves major carbon reductions with Redaptive

Redaptive Partners with Institute for Advanced Study Campus on a Net-Neutral Renewable Energy and Efficiency Project

The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), a leading postdoctoral research center, sought to rapidly reduce its carbon footprint and achieve significant energy savings across its 800-acre campus. To overcome financial and logistical barriers, they partnered with Redaptive, utilizing its Energy-as-a-Service offering to fund and implement comprehensive efficiency upgrades and renewable energy integration without upfront capital.

Redaptive implemented a holistic solution that included installing a deep-well geothermal system, LED lighting, a hot water recovery system, and variable-frequency drives. This project is estimated to reduce the campus’s annual energy consumption by 2.83 million kWh of electricity and 226,000 therms of natural gas. The results are substantial, equating to a reduction of 3,200 metric tons of CO2 emissions and total energy and infrastructure savings of $10.1 million for the Institute.
