University of Salzburg Builds Self-Service I.T. Portal with Red Hat

The University of Salzburg needed to simplify and automate IT service delivery for more than 18,000 students and 2,800 employees across a fragmented infrastructure of multiple sites and departments. Working with Red Hat, the university set out to replace manual provisioning and disparate systems with a centralized self-service portal and scalable infrastructure, using products such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Virtualization, and Red Hat CloudForms.

Red Hat implemented a private cloud and Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform, supported by Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat Consulting, to automate workflows and create a service catalog for IT resources. With Red Hat, the university now delivers services in minutes, improves hardware utilization for HPC and peak demand, and benefits from more predictable costs through an academic subscription model.
