UNE EPM Telecommunications Cuts Costs in Half

UNE EPM Telecommunications, a Colombian telecommunications provider serving millions of customers, needed to migrate from its existing Oracle/Sun directory platform to one that could support growing bandwidth demands while sharply reducing licensing, hardware, and maintenance costs. The company turned to Red Hat, using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Directory Server, and Red Hat Training to help ensure a smooth transition.

Red Hat implemented a full migration of UNE EPM’s directory infrastructure, supported by training and partner assistance, and the project delivered major gains. UNE EPM reported nearly 50% savings in licensing and support costs, about 50% lower operating and maintenance costs, and disaster recovery times that were 95% lower on average than with the previous Oracle JES Directory Server.
