Turkcell Scales Cloud Storage with Red Hat Openstack Platform

Turkcell, Turkey’s leading mobile operator, needed a more scalable, cost-effective platform to build and launch its cloud-based lifebox storage service after its legacy third-party solution caused high costs, architecture issues, and delayed updates. The company was also looking for a more agile environment to support rapid growth and faster feature delivery, and chose Red Hat OpenStack Platform along with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Consulting.

Red Hat implemented a flexible OpenStack-based solution supported by Swift object storage and guided Turkcell through migration and ongoing support. As a result, Turkcell now supports more than three million users and over 4PB of data, has improved scalability, reliability, and stability with no outages, and reduced TCO by avoiding vendor lock-in and licensing fees. Red Hat also helped Turkcell speed feature deployment and prepare the platform for future expansion.
