Trumpf Migrates Unix Systems to Red Hat Enterprise Linux

TRUMPF, the German machine tool and laser technology manufacturer, needed to replace a fragmented Sun Solaris-based IT environment that was difficult to manage, lacked automated deployment and centralized control, and was becoming harder to maintain as key staff left. To modernize its infrastructure, TRUMPF worked with Red Hat using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Consulting, and Red Hat Training.

Red Hat implemented a standardized, x86-based operating environment with centralized management, automated server deployment, and tight security support for LAN and DMZ systems. The result was a successful migration from Solaris to Red Hat Enterprise Linux in a comparatively short time, with lower support costs, simpler management, greater agility, improved backup efficiency, and better operational performance using less manpower and lower operating costs.
